Indie, R&B, Jazz - (K-indie, English, etc) AntiCoronaPanic Playlist

Hey to people reading!
While we're all kind of trapped inside to our own homes, we get a lot of time to do nothing. Though these times can be very stressful, it's great to relax and let go of our regular schedules in order to spend time with loved ones or with ourselves :D

Speaking of relaxing, music helps me relax a great deal. Here's a playlist to calm your nerves and warm your heart!

By My Side
JUNNY
KR&B

This came out a week ago and I love it. Great vocals backed with chill guitar and other soft layers. Check out his full album, even if it doesn't fit the theme! Maybe I'll make a separate post for KR&B!

I Want to Be A Pillow
J_ust
K-Indie

Very relaxing and simple with light acoustic guitar. I've never heard of J_ust until recently, I'm so glad I found them! If you want to listen to more from J_ust, check out How is Your Night and You

But Beautiful
Nat King Cole

Let the lush backdrop of the strings and the warm sound of one of my favourite singers' voices transport you to a world of soft nostalgia, romance and most importantly, relaxingness!

 Bluelesss Bird by Joni
 Misty by Ella Fitzgerald
On Such A Day by no reply

I tried searching for the lyrics. Unfortunately I don't know any korean so I don't know what this song is about! Even without knowing however, the song has very calming instrumentals and a soothing voice to go with it.

Polka Dots and Moonbeams
Bill Evans Trio

Sometimes jazz just has a magical way of calming you down and remind you to slow down to appreciate life. For some reason, trios really help me achieve that experience!

 True Lover by Yerin Baek
What I Want to Say by Acourve
 World by no reply

Going through no reply's channel, I'm finding a lot of hidden gems. If you liked these two songs, check out BeautifulLove, and Golden Age  ( ͡° ͜ส– ͡ – ✧)

First Choice
Gabe Bondoc
Acoustic, Indie, Pop

I'm in love with this song for some reason. It sounds great + upbeat, and for some reason, really chill right? I really love the instrumentals, but I guess that's just something I'm always on the look for haha. Great voice too!

Love in the Milky Way Cafe
10 cm

All you need is a 10 cm to make you feel better! I always come back to them when I need to relax.

Well, there you have it! I have a bunch more great indie and r&b recommendations to make, but I'll save them for next time! I hope you relax with this messy playlist, and see you next timee!

Hello, friend! I'm here with another blog post, this time covering the topic of being more eco-friendly! A lot of our conversations nowadays have been around the topic of climate change and how the environment is being seriously affected by human activity.

                                                             (from @anneliesdraws)

I myself have seen the effects of climate change on the planet. If you haven't heard already, in the rockies in Canada, there has been a big infestation of Mountain Pine Beetles, which is a native insect that attacks pines in western North American forests. They "eat" the insides of pine trees and they die (that's my best description of it.)

(image from here: Jasper Travel Canada)

Read more about the topic here, but to summarize the issue, most of the beetles normally would be killed off during the winter time, but climate change has lowered temperatures and the beetles aren't dying, so are continuing to spread and harming forests.

While taking road trips across Jasper, I have seen so much red stain the greenness of the mountain views. There are forests upon forests of dead trees everywhere! A lot of these forests take years (if not centuries) to grow as green as they have in national parks like Jasper (in Canada). Seeing this sight really hurt inside.

(source link here: Edmonton Journal)

For that reason, I've become even more inspired to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle! I really believe in the quote "Change Starts at Home."  Start with yourself and the way you live!

Here are some ideas on how you can be more eco-friendly!

Use bars of soap instead of shower gel

I never use shower gel bottles or unnecessary containers full of plastic. Why use the liquid soap which comes with needless packaging when you have bars that can be made in an eco-friendly way? Bars of soap can also come in needless packaging too sometimes(;・・)

If you want to go hardcore, try bringing a bar of soap when you go travelling! Refuse to use the plastic tiny shampoos and shower gels that hotels provide.

Look out for what you're buying!

(earth gift - handmade herbal soaps)

Bring a reusable water bottle wherever you go

One way to reduce the usage of buying plastic water bottles. Many kids bring their own water bottles to school! When you go travelling, you can do the same thing, though it can be harder to find places where you can refill your water bottle.

If you bring a reusable water bottle, see where restaurants or bars will offer to refill your water bottle!

Glass/metal straws

Environmentally friendly straws (as alternatives to harmful plastic straws.) Coming from the link I put, National Geographic says that every day in the United States alone that it is estimated that 500 million straws are used every day! Imagine how much of the plastic can end up in the earth's oceans! ;u;

In Canada, the use of glass/plastic straws has become very popular. It's a great way to reduce the usage of these straws.

Recently, my friend who is in love with NCT 127 just bought metallic straws (one normal-width straw and another bubble tea/boba tea straw) with "Mark Lee" written on it. Glass/metal straws can be fun and save the environment at the same time!

(Stainless Steel Straws from Cheeki)

Buy local/anything with the least amount of packaging!

Sometimes when you go to the grocery store and pick up some things, you notice how much products are packaged for no reason. Unnecessary wrappings and plastic is used on everything. I've also noticed the same thing for small orders from amazon ( ๏พŸะ”๏พŸ)<!!
If you want to see some pictures on product packaging gone wrong, here's a link (to bored panda.)

By buying products from local places (like from farmers markets), maybe this can reduce a little. As a high school student, I can't control how my family will buy their products, but I'm sure that once I am living on my own, that's what I'm going to do!

Besides that, imagine how fresh the food will be! I think that consuming these foods can slow down the fast buying of supermarkets. What benefits do you think buying locally will bring to the environment?

No more plastic bags!

No eco-friendly list can be complete without this command. Don't use plastic bags from stores anymore! Bring your own. If you keep forgetting, keep a bunch of reusable bags in your car's trunk (this is what my family's been doing), or don't take any plastic bags at all until you remember to bring your own!

Shop from thrift stores

Check this website for more information on the benefits on thrift shopping for the environment! Re-wearing clothes reduces waste and pollution. According to the infographic I found on this website,  almost 100% of clothing and textiles are recyclable, but 85% of it ends up in landfills.

We could reuse clothing from thrift stores, reduce the amount of clothing needlessly ending up in landfills, and maybe reduce production of clothing as well!

Turn off lights and unplug when you can

Keeping lights on when there's afternoon light outside or keeping too many lights on at the same time can be a big consumption of energy. I make sure that I also shut down my computer completely before going off to bed and knowing that it's fully charged. In sleep mode, the computer still takes energy.

I've also heard that keeping things plugged into the wall takes up a lot of energy. By unplugging certain devices or chargers once you're done can help reduce your usage of energy!
______________________________________________________________

And that's it for this post, my friend! I have a bunch of other ideas to include, but I'll leave them for next time. What have you been doing to be more eco-friendly? Do you believe that some methods for being eco-friendly actually affect the environment in some way?

Thanks for reading!

Hey everyone! I recently caught a really intense fever that lasted a few days and it really held me back from accomplishing anything productive. Since I'm in high school, I've just started my summer courses and I fell sick a few days before the class became too serious.

As a hardworker and perfectionist, I really appreciated having a little time off to look after myself. When you get sick, it's like your body is reminding yourself that you need a pause before you can push yourself to work hard and do great things (like working really hard for a class, or getting a job, or anything!)

I guess what I'm trying to say with my terrible writing is that you should always take a little break once in a while to check in on yourself. If not, high amounts of stress can lead you to getting sick!

(lovely drawing by N0MA)

When I was younger, I would always get sick and miss a lot of school. As I grew a little older and got less sick less often, the feeling of being weak due to a cold or a fever and the warm tingly feeling you get from drinking something warm and cozying up to a fire (or a small heater next to your room (เน‘˃๊́‡ด˂̀เน‘)) feels really nostalgic and cozy to me.

Do you feel the same way?

Anyway, if you're feeling a little under the weather, or are longing for little ways to feel cozy again, here's some little tips and ideas!

๐ŸŽ€  Grab the warm blankets ☕

Though this may seem obvious, the cozying up is the first step of the process! When I got cold at first and had a really runny nose, I felt like avoiding the blankets altogether for fear that I'll feel all icky. Once you've surrounded yourself with the familiar warmth of these blankets, your body can be a little bit more at ease, and you can let it rest a little.

๐ŸŽ€  Prepare some soothing tea (or water!) ☕

When you're sick, you might forget or feel less like drinking water throughout the day. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated!

As for your aching throat and everything inside of you that kinda feels wonky, sipping something nice and warm can really help give you some relief.

There might be some great specific kinds of teas that people might want to reach out to, and you should definitely search up some teas that could boost your mood! As for me, I'd go for a chai or chamomile tea. One sip and I feel instantly better and more relaxed!

If it's later during the day and I don't want have tea messing with my sleeping schedule, I'll have a nice warm cup of hot cocoa (I actually call it hot chocolate haha).

(the secret world of arrietty)

๐ŸŽ€  Turn off your device ☕

Staring at a screen for too long can really induce some headaches. When I have a cold, I'll only use my computer for a couple hours, but no longer than that! Take advantage of your not being able to do anything and simply stare into space!

Some people like to meditate or get into some light reading, which are some great ideas. I get headaches a little too easy, so staring into space or into the ceiling and really just not thinking at all can be very therapeutic and kind of cozy knowing that since you're sick you have all this time to rest and enjoy existing slowly in a fast-paced world.

๐ŸŽ€  Watch comforting movies ☕

Turn your device back on! Maybe it's a TV or a small ipad screen or your computer, anything to watch some movies. I love living in the kind of "light and weak" feeling I have when I'm sick to enjoy really light and comfy fantasy children movies (which are usually based on nature), shows and videos!

For some ideas of what to watch, I recommend watching Moomin, Studio Ghibli movies, ๆŽๅญๆŸ’ Liziqi, Disney movies, Coraline (TใƒฎT)๏พŸ, etc. Slice of life animes are also a great thing to watch when you're sick, they're so relaxing and oddly inspiring!

๐ŸŽ€  Listen to some relaxing music ☕

I can't go on without listening to music! Whenever I'm sick it's always great to listen to some wonderful soundtracks from movies and shows and classical music. This might be different for you!

Whenever you feel sick, you want to stick what's most comfortable to you. At least that's the case for me! I love to experiment with different music genres, but when I'm sick, I really need to hear a symphonic orchestra, an acoustic guitar or the sweet voice of Ella Fitzgerald!

If you want some recommendations on what to listen, I recommend this Soundtrack, Always, Cello, Night, Rough, Garden. Let me know if you would like to have some more music recommendations!

๐ŸŽ€  Chicken Noodle Soup ☕

This is the old? well-known? cure for colds! I've got to have at least one bowl of soup, if not chicken noodle soup! Tastes can be different for everyone (my sister hates the taste of chicken noodle soup, so she'll have warm toast instead) but maybe you should try it!

If not, the comfort of a staple food that you'll only have when your sick can bring a really comforting feeling. I almost never have soup until I'm sick.

๐ŸŽ€  Look at comfy pictures ☕

When I'm sick, I like to fill my head up with fluff. Tiny little fantasy worlds in children's novels, the mysteriousness of a nature/botany-focused instagrammer, and pictures of far-away lands! (For me that's Switzerland.)

Look through cute pictures on Pinterest and follow wonderful people like artists on social media who post great content! For some links on who to follow (on instagram), here's a list of links!

Do you follow any artists or nature-related instagrammers?

(amazing art by Tatsuro Kiuchi)

๐ŸŽ€  Do a little bit of art ☕

If you feel like you are in good enough health (but still sick nevertheless (I love using the word nevertheless, it sounds so fancy)), do indulge yourself in a small activity that you haven't had the opportunity of doing while you were constantly working before becoming sick!

Try Botanical drawing, making collages, journaling, writing music, writing stories, flower arranging?

If I were sick, I kind of would stay away from playing an instrument, only because I might get my sick all over my instrument by its mouthpiece or by coughing all over it ใƒพ(- -;) Kinda sad...if you really want to connect to your musical side other than writing music (I try to write music and sometimes give up easily haha), maybe try researching the history of different musical things!

While I was sick I kind of considered writing a blog post about the history of harps anyway.

Make sure you still give your brain some time to relax, too! You don't have to take them too seriously! Have fun with what you're doing.

I hope my ideas helped you a little bit, or inspired you to find other comfy things to do while you're sick! What kind of things do you like to do? Your favourite teas? Tv shows? I'd love to hear from you!

Natural Music Artist: Eloise

Recently I was window shopping in H&M and found this artist called Eloise from the song playing in the store! Here's her official website if you're more interested. I really really like the music that they play in H&M. It's always smooth/soft and most of the songs are very close to natural and acoustic sounds. You can always expect a calming/relaxing or softness to the music!

Eloise: Left Side

This song is a very soft and simple combination of her dreamy vocals, a guitar, and the mellow background noise of a piano. It's like a jazzy kind of indie music, and it brings me a lot of peace. Her lyrics are very poetic too.

Eloise: Too, Dear.

Here the lyrics sound really really sweet and the instrumentals are so cute. Just listen to it! This song put me in a good mood so fast.

Eloise: TTCL

Her voice is amazing in this and all the sounds are natural as you see in the video! The lyrics are also very thoughtful. I could write a full paragraph about the performance, but it would be even better if you watch the video and see for yourself the perfectness of her performance!
(And I just wrote an entire paragraph anyway)

Eloise: Subside

Here is the song I heard in the store I was in. Though it doesn't really sound like a really "natural" or "folk" sound, I can see colours of green and feel the warmth of an afternoon sun from the lush and smooth instrumentals and Eloise's sweet voice. It provides me with a comfort that walks outside on a weekend bring me, which is a fresh feeling that seems very unique to me.

And there you have it. Happy listening!!
